Mt Ruapehu Lahar
The eruption of Mt Ruapehu in 1995 and 1996 left a fragile dam at the outlet to the Crater Lake. This has created a potentially hazardous lahar situation. Natural Resource Solutions has assisted the Ministry of Civil Defence and Emergency Management and the District Councils to plan for this event. This has involved developing Emergency Management Plans and organising training events.
