Central North Island Rail Trail
The CNIRT will run from Pureora to Ongarue through the Pureora Forest Park in the central North Island. Following old tram lines that were used for logging until the 1950's, the trail will be 60 km long when finished.
The Ministry of Tourism,as part of the National Cycleway project, has provided funding to build the track. Natural Resource Solutions has assisted the Department of Conservation to obtain the necessary resource consents for the project.
