About us
Natural Resource Solutions is a consultancy based in Taupo, New Zealand and is managed by Richard Balm. He works to provide natural resource planning and management solutions for businesses and organisations. He works in collaboration with a range of consultants and specialists to provide the necessary skills and expertise to complete projects of all sizes.
Richard Balm
Richard has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geography and a Post-Graduate Diploma
in Business Administration.
He has worked for the Department of Conservation in Tongariro National Park, Arthur’s Pass National Park, the Chatham Islands, Raoul Island and in its Head Office. He spent 12 months based at Scott Base, Antarctica as the Dog Handler. He has developed a broad understanding of protected area management and planning.
Richard was a Principal Ranger for the Auckland Regional Council where he was responsible for managing intensely used regional parks He has significant experience in operational and strategic management, community consultation, statutory planning and policy development.
In 2002 Richard established the consultancy natural resource solutions. As a consultant he brings a broad skill and experience set and has solid research, problem solving and planning skills. In project management he has the planning, financial and interpersonal to see projects successfully completed.
Richard has well developed communication skills that he uses effectively in liaising across a broad range of community, government and commercial entities. He is commercially astute and is particularly effective in managing the people and resources involved in diverse projects.
Richard is a keen cyclist and is a committee of Bike Taupo Inc., a local cycle advocacy group. He co-ordinates the development and maintenance of the mountain bike tracks in the Wairakei Forest
